Greetings from Austin!
Crescent Fort Worth sponsors a field trip to Austin for 4th and 5th grade students

Crescent's corporate office sponsored a class trip to the Texas State Capital for Nash Elementary 4th and 5th graders. This spring marked the end of Crescent's three year FACES of Change partnership with Charles E. Nash Elementary and the educational field trip was a parting gift to the students and staff at Nash. The field trip was coordinated by the non-profit group Education in Action as part of their "Proud to be Texan" day trip program. The 30 Nash participants visited and toured the State Capital building, and the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. For many of the students this was their first trip to Austin.

On the charter bus ride to Austin, the Education In Action staff members played educational games such as Texas Bingo and Texas Trivia to help prepare the students for what they would see and learn in Austin. After lunch on the Capital lawn, the students toured the State Capital and enjoyed the rare opportunity to see the Legislature in session. Next the students walked to the Bob Bullock State History Museum where they explored exhibits about early Texas including Native Americans, Conquistadors, LaSalle's LaBelle shipwreck, the Alamo, and Buffalo Soldiers. The visit concluded at the multi-sensory Texas Spirit Theater with a screening of the film Star of Destiny.

As an extra special gift, Crescent team members also sponsored Nash "shutterbugs" and provided each student with a disposable camera to capture their memories of the day. Cresecent paid for the film processing and returned the photos to the individual "shutterbug" students.

Thank you to all the Crecent team members who made this memorable learning experience possible!
