At Stemmons Place, the little red schoolhouse stands proudly in the lobby, its flag ready to wave at the first hint of a patriotic breeze. Property manager Linda Guinn is quick to point out that at her property, FACES of Change is more than a building. Ever since the program began in 1997, Crescent team members and customers have known the true meaning of FACES, and that is the children. Mentoring has been a staple of the Stemmons Place FACES program with each of two partner schools, Schulze E. S. and now Lee Britain E. S.
Customer Tracy Newton, an accountant for Impartial Services Group, is in her third year of mentoring with FACES. She has mentored in a group setting as well as individual children. She knew from the first year she mentored that she was making a difference, and so did the Irving Ind. School District, who awarded her with their Crystal Apple award as Volunteer of the Year. It has made such a difference to her that she is now working with University of Texas at Arlington to pursue her teacher's certificate. Although she always loved children, it never occurred to her to become a teacher until becoming a mentor. "Volunteering with the FACES program made a light bulb go off and I realized that working with children is my life's love." Her company, Impartial Services, Group, has always been supportive of her volunteer work. Tracy states, "I hope that Crescent realizes how much of an impact they are making with this program and I hope it will always continue."
Other Stemmons Place mentors include Linda Guinn, Andrei Lorilla, Sherrie Ramirez, Mitzi Slavik, and Adam Guerra.
