The First Annual Houston Center Volunteer Awards Breakfast was held on June 18, 2004. Volunteers were honored for their outstanding efforts and support for this years FACES activities.
Customers receiving a plaque to display in their offices or store fronts were Joseph Massa, owner of Massa's Seafood Grill of The Shops, Ernst & Young of 5 Houston Center, Torch Energy Advisors of 4 Houston Center, Fayez Sarofim & Co.
of 2 Houston Center and Griffis & Associates of 1 Houston Center. Cory Fein and Charles Sturm of Caddell & Chapman (4 Houston Center) also received special honors.
Also recognized were several Crescent team members: Pamela Andino for her coordinating efforts for the First Annual International Festival; Dawn Lawrence Griffiths, Felix Tijerina, Emily Clary & Kristen Crofford for their efforts in planning and executing the 2003 FACES of Change Golf Tournament; Brian Price for his continued dedication and willingness to make deliveries to the school throughout the year; Karl Rush, Houston Center's official Santa Claus; and Darlene Tietze for donating her cooking skills to Houston Center's First Annual Web Auction. Each honoree received a certificate and a framed piece of art that the students in Mrs. Thomas's art class donated for the event. In addition to the special honored guests, each person invited to the breakfast received an "All-Star Key Chain" commemorating this year in FACES. (Art work was framed by Houston Landmark Gallery and the key chains were purchased at Worth the Weight; both are customers of The Shops at Houston Center.)
Houston Center family members donated over 1,200 volunteer hours this year, which is a Houston Center record! Also, Houston Center was able to raise $24,101.80 through the 2003 Golf Tournament, The First Annual Wine Tasting, the First Annual Web Auction, Customer Donations and 1, 2 & 5 Houston Center Plant Sales. The Houston Center FACES program would not be the same without all the support and enthusiasm of each volunteer. The 2003-2004 school year marked the first of the three year partnership with Crockett Elementary School.
